In a desperate attempt to loose weight and improve my over all health I took the drastic step to start dieting.
Many times in my life I have stepped on and off the diet wheel, experiencing the shame of being put on the scales at weight watchers, having the joy of counting food points or having a red or green day and failing miserably.
This time I decided to create my own diet and exercise regime whilst being very aware of calories in and calories out and refusing bland tasteless chemical ridden microwave meals or the joy of counting points and paying for the pleasure
. So this blog is going to contain some recipes, my diet journey and the exercise regime that I am being tortured with.
I personally cannot stand the weekly group therapy sessions at fat clubs, the oooooing and aaaaaahing at people who had lost control and ate a kebab. The selling of nasty, processed low fat supposed chocolate bars and the patronising and always over weight woman that weighs you in like a dog visiting the vets! And then looks at you with her patronising eyes when you have only lost half a pound!
I find the food on those above diets bland and boring and will always lead to failure for me, the food I am now cooking is packed with flavour and I have a constant stock of chillis, garlic and fresh herbs to spice things up
I have cut out all bread except tortillas and Wholemeal pitta breads, reduced my alcohol intake to almost no existent, do not eat any chocolate, cakes, biscuts even low fat ones. I have stopped having dairy products such as butter and cheese, except feta and 1% milk. For sweet treats I have meringues and one weight watchers frozen meringue dessert.
All calorie counts on the recipes are calculated using amounts given on packaging, my fitness pal (available on apple, blackberry apps and online)with a little mathematics.
I would recommend my fitness pal to anyone trying to loose weight through calorie counting and exercise, it's a great tracker and gives you a better understanding and focus.
